Assessment of Coordinated Development Between Urban and Rural Areas in Major Grain Production Bases of Northeast China——a Case Study of Changchun City

The coordinated developmentbetween urban and ruralareasisa hotissue in the academic research on relationship between urban and rural areas, and also an important problem to make overall planning for urban and rural areas and construct new countryside at present. Based on the unique connotation of the relationship between urban and rural areas, the paper establishes two models to assess the comprehensive development level of urban and rural areas respectively. Using the method of entropy value, the paper calculates weight of the above 30 indicators, the urban comprehensive development indexf(x),andtheruralcomprehensivedevelopmentindexg(y),thenthecoordinateddegree(C)andcoordinated development degree (D) between urban and rural areas. The research results show that: (1) the level of urban economic development has a higher contribution to f(x), and the improvement of rural living standard increases significantly the value of g(x); (2) according to the scores of C, D, f(x) and g(y), Changchun city enters into a coordinated period with high level in 2007. Finally, the polices play an important role in promoting the coordinated development between the urban and rural areas.
