IN-CAR DEVICES: EXPERIENCE WITH INSTRUMENTS FOR INVESTIGATION

This is a report about the influence of technical support by a "cruise control" to driver behaviour. MOVE (Mobile Observation of VEhicle-manoeuvring) analyses driver behaviour in real traffic. 200 data samples of speed, status signals (brake aso.) and a sensor for longitudinal and lateral acceleration are collected per second. These data and the records of four car environment cameras and markers set by an observer describing the situation of the driving session are analysed through a graphical interface, statistics and artificial intelligence. But there are differences between drivers. ART 2020 traffic-psychology test units allow the comprehensive examination of traffic-relevant performance and personality dimensions by the means of records of speed-power tests, behaviour and questionnaires. The relevance of ART 2020 is validated in real tmffic. There are comprehensive norms for each test, gathered from clients in actual assessment situations. Drivers with better performance and worse personality dimensions reduce safety distances to other cars and drive faster when using a cruise control. For the covering abstract see ITRD E109380.
