Decay Upsilon(3S) -> Upsilon(1S)pi(+)pi(-) and a possible b(b)over-barq(q)over-bar state
2005
The decay process Y(3S) -> Y(1S)pi(+)pi(-) are re-visited using a Chiral Unitary Theory (ChUT) to include the important pi pi S wave final state interaction (FSI). It is found that when an additional intermediate state with J(P) = 1(+) and I = 1 is introduced, the pi pi invariant mass spectrum and the cos theta(pi)* distribution in the Y(3S) -> Y(1S)pi(+)pi(-) process can simultaneously be well-explained, and a good description for other bottomonium pi(+)pi(-) transitions can be obtained consistently. As a result, the mass and the width of the intermediate state are predicted to be M-X = 10.08GeV and T-X = 0.655GeV, respectively. From the quark content analysis, this state should be a b (b) over barq (q) over bar state.
