On a Few Innovations of Chlor-Alkali Membrane Process in Japan

2013
The Minamata disease due to organic mercury appeared public in the 1960`s, and in 1973 the government of time announced his basic policy that the production process of chlor-alkali must be converted from mercury to diaphragm progressively. The diaphragm process was only one choice in those days, however, had two faults. They are that salt concentration in caustic soda was so much high and not usable in some industries and that oxygen in chlorine gas increases with decrease in current efficiency during operation.
