Diversidad de los Macroinvertebrados Acuáticos de la Laguna de Sonso, Valle del Cauca, Colombia

2011
The diversity of aquatic macroinvertebrates associated with macrophytes and benthic habitats in Sonso wetland system was evaluated Between 2007 and 2008. Samples were collected during both, wet and rainy season with a net of500 ml capacity and networks of 4 m 2 and 0.5 (xm mesh eye respectively. An extensive survey of literature related with macroinvertebrates distribution in wetlands was performed during the twelve years (1996-2008). About 45 families belonging to different trophic guilds and characteristics of water qualities were reported. The presence of certain classes can be used to select functional groups: from highly polluted (Tubificidae and Chironomidae) to very clean and typical of lotic water bodies (Blephariceridae and Psephenidae). During the last survey between 2007 and 2008, a variety of groups were included, which represented a type of water with organic matter (Hydrophilidae, Curculionidae, Chironomidae, Oligochaeta and Hirudinea). The study also registered gastropods and bivalve mollusks. The family Dytiscidae is associated exclusively with Eichornia crassipes collected in the wetland. The data represented a contribution to the knowledge of the biodiversity of lentic ecosystems and constitutes basic information to develop a management plan of the lagoon.
