MR imaging and MR angiography in growth-hormone secreting pituitary adenoma and associated giant internal carotid aneurysm

1995
An unsuspected giant fusiform aneurysm arising from the intracavernous segment of the internal carotid artery associated with a growth-hormone secreting pituitary adenoma is presented. The aneurysm was diagnosed with MRI using conventional spin-echo sequences, however, contrast-enhanced MRA permitted a better depiction of its relation with the carotid artery. The MR angiogtaphy technique may add useful information to conventional MRI, in the preoperative assessment of pituitary tumours.
