The reverse flow temporal artery island flap.
1976
The recent expansion of knowledge of the skin’s vascular anatomy and the accurate description of skin vascular territories permit the reconstructive surgeon to design new flaps which previously had been thought doomed to an ischemic death. The reverse flow temporal artery island flap utilizes these advances and introduces a new concept of collateral flow into an axial vessel supplying a flap.
