A Novel Autonomous Energy Management System: Solution for a Fossil Fuel Free Future

Currently, 85% of energy is generated using fossil fuels and non-renewable resources, which are the main causes for environmental issues. The fossil fuel reserves are continually diminishing and will not be available for future generations. In this study, a model for an autonomous energy management system interfaced with hybrid microgrid which promotes green energy is presented for fossil fuel less future. It will enhance the peak demand reduction to utility, self-sustainable power to people and greenhouse gasses free atmosphere. The proposed model has been simulated in MATLAB. The simulated results show that the proposed system effectively manages different load conditions of a residence. The proposed method opens an avenue for shifting power generation from fossil fuel to renewable energy sources, which could reduce 240 trillion units of power consumption in domestic sector alone and corresponding CO2 emission reduction of 214 billion tons of CO2 per year in India.
