PRODUKSI BIBIT TEBU (Sacharrum officinarum L.) PADA PENANAMAN BAGAL 1, 2 DAN 3 MATA

Propagation cane is usually done vegetatively by planting sugarcane budset. Planting of budset can be done with a 1 bud shoot or more. At the farm level, planting sugar cane carried by 2 bads, 3 buds, even whole stem with many buds. The different ways of planting sugarcane based on the number of bud is required evaluation in order to achieve the expected results. This study aims to determine how planting method with different numbers of buds on sugarcane budset towards achieving the buds that will be used as seed source in the milled sugarcane plantation. The study was conducted in October 2011 to May 2012 at the experiment station Muktiharjo, Pati, Central of Java using vairetas PSJT 941. Treatment of research is the difference number of bud on budset with 3 levels, they are 1 bud, 2 buds and 3 buds. Research arranged in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with 5 replications. Observations were conducted on germination, tillering, plant height, number of stems, number of suckers and number of buds. The data obtained were analyzed with ANOVA and further testing using the Duncan test. The results showed that the use of 2 bud and 3 bud on first growing produced quite well with the germination rate of 69.0 to 69.5%, number of tillers 2.24 to 4.60 shoots/groups, and plant height on germination phase 107,04-115,42 cm. The calculation of stem number on 2 bud showed the highest with 9.6 stems/m and obtained sucker numbers lowest with 0.38 suckers/m. Production buds highest obtained at planting 2 bud with 847,848.06 buds/ha which can be used as 8.83 ha for the milled sugarcane plantation. Key words: Sacharrum officinarum L., budset, bud shoot
