A method for detecting soft defects in a transmission line comprising the steps of: - Acquire (401) a measurement, called temporal reflectogram, a signal characteristic of the reflection of a reference signal having been injected into the line, - determining (402) the difference between said time and a time reflectogram reflectogram measured previously for the same line or a same line of similar characteristics, in order to obtain a corrected time reflectogram, - Apply (4031, 403i, 403N) a plurality of transformations independent to the temporal reflectogram corrected to obtain a plurality of transformed reflectograms, - Convert (404,405,406,407) each reflectogram into a measure of a fault occurrence probability, - applying (408) a method of data fusion measures occurrence of a default probability to derive a unified measure of a probability of occurrence of a fault.
