The present invention relates to an optical security device (1, 1 ') with a carrier (5) and a plurality of on a surface of the carrier (5) arranged distributed surface elements (8, 8a, 8b, 8c, 18a, 18b, 18c) with a first diffractive element wherein the first diffractive element has a periodically repeating in a first direction structure, wherein the surface elements (8, 8a, 8b, 8c, 18a, 18b, 18c) with the first diffractive element comprises a plurality of groups each at least two surface elements (8, 8a, 8b, 8c, 18a, 18b, 18c), wherein the surface elements (8, 8a, 8b, 8c, 18a, 18b, 18c) configured so arranged with the first diffractive element of each group and are that the first diffractive elements for an observer (3) or an observation device a pixel of a first image (13, 14) generate the first image (13, 14) together from the signals generated by the plurality of groups pixels mensetzt, and wherein the surface elements (8, 8a, 8b, 8c, 18a, 18b, 18c) are arranged and designed such that in the operation of the safety device (1, 1 ') a position of the first image (13, 14) of the angle of incidence (α) or the viewing angle (β) dependent. In order to provide a safety device which has a higher degree of design freedom in the selection of displayed images, the invention proposes that at least one surface element (8, 8a, 8b, 8c, 18a, 18b, 18c) in addition a second diffractive member having a has in a second direction periodically repeating structure, wherein the first direction and the second direction are different from each other.
