Inventario de sexismo ambivalente: adaptación, validación y relación con variables psicosociales

El objetivo de este estudio fue adaptar y validar para nuestra zona el Inventario de Sexismo Ambivalente ASI (Glick & Fiske, 1996). Este inventario esta constituido por 22 items distribuidos en dos dimensiones: sexismo hostil y sexismo benevolo. La muestra quedo constituida por 220 participantes de ambos sexos, todos ellos estudiantes de las carreras de psicologia, periodismo, economia e ingenieria. El ASI muestra ser confiable y valido, y nos informa de una alta correlacion con una serie de variables sociodemograficas y psicosociales. Respecto del perfil de sexismo, los hombres muestran mayores indices de sexismo tanto benevolo como hostil que las mujeres, aunque los niveles para estas –sobre todo en el de tipo benevolo- son bastante elevados. Se discuten estos resultados a la luz de las teorias sobre prejuicio y estereotipos de genero. ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to adapt and validity for our zone the Inventory of Ambivalent Sexism ASI (Glick & Fiske, 1996). This scale is constituted by 22 items distributed in two dimensions: hostile sexism and benevolent sexism. The sample was constituted by 220 participants of both sexes, all of them undergraduate students of psychology, journalism, economy and engineering. The ASI shows to be reliable and valid and indicates a high correlation to us with a series of socio-demographics and psycho-social variables. Respect of the profile of sexism, the men show major indexes of both benevolent and hostile sexism to women, though the levels for these -especially quite of benevolent type - are high enough. These results are discussed in the light of the theories on prejudice and stereotypes of gender.
