The measurement of the surface heat transfer coefficient for ceramics quenched into a water bath

Abstract A method for measuring the surface heat transfer coefficient h is presented that combines a paremeter estimation technique with the fast-response capabilities of recently developed thin film thermocouples. Values of h as a function of temperature were measured for three ceramic materials: Al 2 O 3 , TiB 2 and a glass ceramic.
