Study of Hardness in Sand Casting of SG Iron

Sand casting is one of the ancient manufacturing processes which used to make different parts. Hardness of casted parts should not alter after casting of particular materials. In present paper, variation in hardness values of sand casted part of spheroidal graphite (SG) iron has been controlled up to 16%. To control the hardness variation into sand casted parts, the chemical composition is varied. It is found that copper has significant effect on hardness variation on SG iron casting parts.
