Comparing Teachers' Anxiety, Depression, and Quality of Life in Elementary and Secondary School Courses

This research has been conducted with the aim of comparing the amount of anxiety, depression and quality of life of teachers in elementary and secondary school courses. The method used in this research is scientific-comparative. For this regard, 291 individuals were chosen from the elementary and secondary school teachers of dist. 2 of Sari by random sampling. The data collection tools consist of Beck anxiety and depression inventory, and QLQ (quality of life questionnaire). The collected data were analyzed by the use of independent t-test and MANOVA analysis. The results showed that: a significant difference exists between the amount of anxiety and depression in teachers of elementary and secondary school courses, in a way that the elementary school teachers’ anxiety and depression is more than the secondary school teachers’. But no significant difference was observed in the amount of quality of life. Findings also showed that: a significant difference exists between the amount of anxiety, depression and quality of life of teachers based on the gender, which means that the male’s anxiety was less than the female’s, but depression and the quality of life of the males were more than the female ones’. Results also showed that: a significant difference exists between the amount of anxiety, depression and quality of life of teachers based on their educational level, in a way that the more the teachers’ educational level the more the anxiety but the less the depression and the more the quality of life.
