Design of FIR Filter for Reduction of Power Line Interference from ECG Signal

2018
A filter is designed to reduce the noise like power line interference in the Electrocardiogram (ECG). Heart plays a vital role in our human body and cardiac attack is increasing on each successive day in recent days. Electrocardiogram (ECG) is a device, which plays a major role for monitoring and diagnosing the human heart. The normal ECG signal has the frequency range from 0.5Hz to 100Hz. At the time of measurement of ECG signal, a noise which occurs is power line interference, motion artifacts, muscle contraction and instrumental noise. In this work a digital FIR filter for reducing 50Hz power line noise in ECG signal is designed with different windowing methods as of Hanning, Hamming, Kaiser and Butterworth filter. In these filters Kaiser gives the best result.
