FIRST PROJECT OF IMMENSE RECLAMATION IN TOKYO BAY, JAPAN

In Tokyo Bay, there are many landfills which are important area for modern Japanese economy. Total area of landfills which is shown in Figure 1 has been over 2.5 million hectares. Although many of reclamations were executed by the government and the municipalities in Japanese post-war economic miracle, a first project of an immense reclamation was started by a private company about 100 years ago. This paper introduces the first project which is called "Asano Reclamation" later.
