STUDY ON THE USE OF RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES

This paper examines the possibilities of producing electricity and heat using renewable energy in Romania. Total energy demand in 2030 will be around 50% higher than in 2003 and oil will be around 46% higher. Known oil reserves could sustain current levels of consumption only until 2040, and the natural gas until 2070, while world coal reserves provide a period of more than 200 years even in an increase in operating . European Commission (EC) considered essential for the EU to promote a common energy policy based on energy security, sustainable development and competitiveness.
