Tumors of the Pediatric Genitourinary System

2002
Cancer is second only to accidents as the leading cause of death in children younger than 15 years of age. Although the overall incidence of childhood cancers increased 10% between 1973 and 1991, mortality in these children showed an impressive decline of 42%. Moreover, the 5-year survival rate of childhood cancer patients for all sites combined increased from a staggering 30% in the early 1960s to almost 70% in the 1990s. 1, 2, 3
