As ondas feministas

2021
The feminist movements are usually identified in international literature - particularly the European-American axis – as constituted by “waves”, which are characterized according to the socio-historical process, from the turn of the 18th century to the present day – and within which some authors point out that we are living the fourth feminist wave. This perspective of wave analysis can represent a normative view of the history of Western feminism, which proposes a unique narrative and excludes specificities, references and leadership from other contexts. This article intends to identify the universalities and the units between the Brazilian feminist movement and those mentioned in the international literature of feminist waves. In this bibliographic study, continuities and discontinuities in the struggle of women in Brazil were identified, and transversalities between feminist waves were mapped. Although some important demands raised over the years by the Brazilian feminist movements have been conquered, in the current Brazilian socio-political context it is urgent to refer and work on old debates, because even from a new way of building collectivities and struggles, some contents remain latent.
