Spectroscopic study of the molecular bands of HgCl: identification of the B(2Σ+)←X(2Σ+) transition

Thirty molecular HgCl bands are recorded using the laser optogalvanic technique in the B ← X transition ( 2 Σ + ←Σ + ) in 563 nm to 633 nm region. Many of these bands have been observed for the first time. The bands are vibrationally analysed and the isotopic heads fit in well with the theoretically estimated isotopic shifts. Molecular constants have been derived from the analysis.
