Suppression of gastric acid secretion by the duodenum and small bowel
1970
Abstract “Duodenal transposition” to the upper intestine increases acid secretion from a denervated gastric pouch. It is further increased by transposition to the midintestine. The probable explanations for this are: (a) interference with the duodenal mechanisms which inhibit gastric acid secretion, and (b) interference with an acid-suppressing mechanism of intestinal origin.
