5 ABSTRACT Endoscopic techniques have undergone a very important development both in the field of surgery and in that of medicine, hence the possibility of developing a nosocomial infection fol- lowing the realisation of these techniques must be taken into consideration. On the basis of the epidemiology of these processes details are given of the activities to be carried out for the prevention, diagnosis and control of nosocomial infection associated with the realisation of these endoscopic techniques. These could be both general (antibiotic profilaxis, high level disinfection, etc.) and specific, depending on the different localisations and/or techniques used.
