Preparation of Hydridometallocarboranes and Their Use as Homogeneous Catalysts.

Abstract : Two isomeric hydridometallocarboranes have been synthesized and characterized as 3-((C6H5)3P)2-3-H-3-Rh-1,2-C2B9H11 (I) and 2-((C6H5)3P)2-2-H-2-Rh-1,7-C2B9H11 (II). Solutions of I or II catalyze the isomerization and hydrogenation of olefins, the hydrogen-deuterium exchange of carboranes and boranes, and the hydrosilylation of ketones. (Modified author abstract)
