Further results with tuned absorber - impact damper combination

This paper presents additional results to control excessive transient vibrations of a light and flexible secondary system with a tuned absorber and impact damper combination. The particular modified tuned absorber concept was presented during IMAC-XVI where the secondary system to be protected was mounted on a single degree-of-freedom primary structure. New results are presented here where primary structure is doubled by adding another level to that in the earlier study. The new configuration affords the opportunity to investigate the effect of the tuning frequency of the absorber on the control performance.
