Near-infrared absorbing dye, optical filter, and image acquisition device

Provided is a near-infrared absorbing dye having transparency to visible light and near-infrared blocking characteristics in which the transmittance is increased for light having wavelengths of 430-550 nm in particular. Absorption characteristics of the near-infrared absorbing dye, which are measured by dissolving the dye in dichloromethane, satisfy the following requirements: ・In an absorption spectrum at wavelengths of 400-800 nm, a maximum absorption wavelength λ max exists in the wavelength region of 670 nm or higher; ・Relational expression e B /e A ≥ 65 holds between a maximum absorption coefficient e A for light having wavelengths of 430-550 nm and a maximum absorption coefficient e B of light having wavelengths of 670 nm or higher; and ・In a spectral transmittance curve, the average transmittance of light having wavelengths of 430-460 nm is equal to or greater than 94.0 % when the transmittance at the maximum absorption wavelength λ max is assumed to be 1 %.
