A Revision of the New Species and Varieties of Philonotis Described by N. C. Kindberg from North America

During the preparation of a monograph on the Swedish species of Philonotis I had occasion to study, for purpose of comparison, also the North American species of the genus. For this purpose I undertook a critical examination, among other material, of the new species and varieties, described by N. C. KINDBERG. A special reason for undertaking a revision of these forms I had in the fact that the type specimens of KINDBERG are in the collections of the Natur-historiska Riksmuseum at Stockholm. I am giving in the following a list of all KINDBERG'S species arranged in alphabetical order and shall quote the labels of all the numbers in his herbarium in case the same numbers should happen to occur in American collections.
