Urban Nesting of Yellow-Legged Gulls in Barcelona (Spain)

The city of Barcelona, with a population of 4.5 million inhabitants spread over an area of over 10,000 hectares is situated between the mouth of two rivers: Besos and Llobregat. Barcelona has a large fishing port and has always been an important stop over and wintering place for gulls. During summer only two gull species are present: Larus ridibundus and Larus cachinnans.
