HLA antigens and organ specific antimicrosomal antibodies in patients with autoimmune polyglandular syndromes (APS)

2003
Summary The incidence of various HLA class I and II antigens was estimated in a group of 30 patients with autoimmune polyglandular syndromes (APS) in relation to their prevalence in the control population. Moreover, the presence of organ-specific antimicrosomal antibodies (MAB): thyroid, adrenal, pituitary and parietal cell, was evaluated. In the group of APS patients, incidence rates of the following antigens were higher: HLA class I (A1 and B8) and class II (DR3 and DR4). No predictive value of presence of HLA antigens for organ-specific antimicrosomal antibodies was found.
