SYNOPSIS Four distinctive patterns of consciousness and memory impairment can be recognized during amigraine attack: 1. syncope, 2. transient global amnesia, 3. confusional state, 4. epileptic seizure.We discuss old and new views concerning the mechanisms responsible for these differentdisturbances of consciousness.
