Provided are an information processing device, information processing method and program capable of easily and accurately determining the operational state of the device by a user. The information processing device is provided with a display panel (101a); a touch panel (101b) for detecting a finger (P) that is moved on the display panel; and a controller (103) for specifying a predetermined movement direction (Dd) and determining the operational state of the device on the basis of the difference ? between the specified movement direction (Dd) and the movement direction (Da) of the finger moving on the display panel according to the specification. As a result, in the case of operating the device with one hand, between the specified movement direction and the movement direction of the finger, because of the structure of the hand, a difference corresponding to the finger used in the operation is likely to occur. However, in the case of operating the device with both hands, between the specified movement direction and the movement direction of the finger, a difference corresponding to the finger used in the operation is unlikely to occur. Accordingly, on the basis of the difference in the movement direction, it is possible to determine the operational state of the device.
