Development and Applications of Bulk-optic Current Sensors

1996
Bulk-optic current sensor fundamental performances and practical applications are described. This current sensor has a bulk Faraday glass, where a light beam circulates around a current carrying conductor for the precise measurement of the current inside the glass from Ampere's law. The sensor has been applied to measure the rotor excitation current of an adjustable speed generator for a pumped storage power generation system.
