APPLICATION OF NEW TECHNOLOGIES TO ROAD TRAFFIC SIGNALIZATION VISIBILITY IN POOR WEATHER CONDITIONS

2009
Traffic signalization represents visual guidelines in the traffic situation and affects the behaviour of all its participants. In road traffic the influence of direct information comes to the fore more than in other traffic branches due to a large number of participants, traffic flow intensities and the decision-making left to individual participants in various situations. In spite of improvement of the technology of manufacturing and techniques of installing traffic signalization, certain weather conditions result in problems of visibility and their perception. The resulting problems of visibility and perception cannot be completely eliminated but they can be significantly reduced. First of all, by proper selection and adequate use of materials for the manufacturing of traffic signalization adapted to those places and those weather conditions in which this signalization will yield its maximum.
