Injuries from sharp instruments in clinical laboratory and their preventive strategy.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the factors of sharp instruments injuries in clinical laboratory and their preventive strategy.METHODS The main factors of sharp instruments injuries and their harmfulness to staffs in clinical laboratory were analyzed,and some tailored preventive strategies were offered.RESULTS The incidence of infection caused by sharp instruments injuries in clinical laboratory could be minimized through continued learning on factors contributing to and harmfulness of sharp instruments injuries and reinforcement of preventive measurements.Offering psychological aids by professionals to staffs who suffered from sharp instruments injuries depending on exposure degrees could to some extent help lower the mental harm caused by sharp instruments injuries-related stress.CONCLUSIONS It suggests that reinforcement of educational program for occupational safety and training of good laboratory practice can minimize sharp instrument injuries in clinical laboratory infection.
