Hybrid Electric Vehicle Starter/Generator Design Considering Operation States and Control Strategy

Developed the new energy vehicles is one of the ways to alleviate the energy crisis and environmental problems. Hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) has become an important direction for the new energy vehicles technology. The starter/generator (S/G) is the core part of the HEV system. Aiming at the operating characteristics and motor control strategy rarely studied on the motor design optimization method, and a design optimization method is proposed. According to the working principle and operating conditions of the S/G, the torque performance and flux weakening property are studied. The design method of different working conditions is obtained. The inductance parameters and characteristics of different rotor structures under electric and power generation conditions are studied by using the finite element analysis (FEA) method. Then the simulation results of the S/G in electric and power generation conditions verify the feasibility of the S/G design optimization method. Under the condition that the S/G designed in this paper conforms to the operation performance, the size of the motor and running current can effectively reduce, and the operation efficiency can improve. It can reduce the cost of the starting generation system and save space for the vehicle.
