We present a patient with an infectious viral skin lesion which showed increased FDG uptake as indicated by positron emission tomography (PET) imaging using 2-[F- 18] fluoro-2-deoxy-D- glucose (FDG). The FDG-PET scan, a non-invasive imaging modality, is known to be highly accurate in differentiating benign from malignant lesions.
