We present a patient with an infectious viral skin lesion which showed increased FDG uptake as indicated by positron emission tomography (PET) imaging using 2-[F- 18] fluoro-2-deoxy-D- glucose (FDG). The FDG-PET scan, a non-invasive imaging modality, is known to be highly accurate in differentiating benign from malignant lesions. While FDG uptake in lesions strongly suggests malignancy, conversely, the absence of FDG uptake strongly suggests a benign lesion. This is the first report of a viral wart [...]
