Work Engagement and Burnout Within A Pediatric Hospital Medicine Division

Background: While much work has been devoted to physician wellness, literature in pediatrics is limited and there is no published data specific to Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM). Wellness is multifaceted and includes positive traits like work engagement and negative traits like burnout. Work engagement is a positive state-of-mind combining vigor, dedication, and absorption. It is the antipode of burnout, which is characterized by emotional exhaustion and depersonalization.
