Motivation of participants in an interprofessional quality improvement leadership team

2016
Abstract Research is needed on motivational factors inducing participants to engage in interprofessional quality improvement (QI). Responses to an open ended question about motivation for participation in a unit-based QI leadership team were qualitatively examined. Three organizing themes were identified: “Participating in a Highly Functioning Interprofessional Team” (49% of concepts), “Facilitating Positive Patient-Centric Outcomes” (31%), and “Professional Development” (14%). This analysis suggests intra-team relationships are key drivers of participation in QI.
