Experimental Study on Dynamic Root and Canopy Development of Peanuts under Different Water Regimes
2003
Dynamic development of peanuts root and canopy under different water regimes was
experimentally studied. The results showed that for peanut’s growth the flowering/needling stage was
the period that was most sensitive to water status. Lack of water in this period would restrict root and
canopy growth. The availability of water during this period also affected the dry-weight root to
canopy ratio as well as their growth rate. The information is critical to further research on optimal
root to canopy ratio and appropriate irrigation scheduling for peanut crops.
