Grounded electrode and surface current collector

1995
PURPOSE: To prevent changes in the grounding resistance with time and improve its surface effects by charging its hollow cylinder made of a good conductive material having plural fine through-holes with a water-soluble chemical activator. CONSTITUTION: A hollow cylinder 12 made of a good conductive material, closed at its lower end with a cap 23, and formed through its body with plural fine holes 18 is charged with a water-soluble chemical activator at its top inlet port 16, which is thereafter closed with a screwed cap 20, for the formation of a grounded electrode 2. Electrodes 2 are embedded in soil 10 perpendicular around a facility with their ports 16 being substantially flush with the ground G. The electrodes 2 are electrically interconnected in a circle with a connection system 4 for the construction of a surface current collector 11. The collector 11 is then connected to an ionization element 6 at the tip of a support 7 with a transmission system 5 for the formation of a lightning-arrester system. COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
