Hemorrhage into a Pituitary Tumor

2021
Pituitary adenomas account for 10–20% of intracranial tumors. One of the possible complications of these tumors is hemorrhage that can lead to rapid expansion of tumor volume. This results into a clinical picture of sudden-onset headache and neuroophtalmological signs and symptoms that can be a life-threatening situation (pituitary tumor apoplexy) in some cases. In this chapter, we describe clinical picture, diagnosis, differential diagnosis, and management of pituitary tumor apoplexy.
