Voltage collapse due to load variation in compensated transmission lines

1999
This paper deals with the analysis of voltage collapse phenomenon in a series and shunt-compensated extra high voltage transmission line for voltage sensitive loads. The analysis considers a practical situation wherein the voltage stability of the system may be impaired due to a steep rise in active load demand within a short duration. The effects of switching of series capacitors and of the operation of the transformer tap-changing gear at the receiving end of the transmission line are also studied and discussed.
