A method for calculating the electromagnetic field in a waveguide with an anisotropic insert

2001
An efficient theoretical approach based on the finite difference method is developed for the discretization of the Maxwell equations describing electromagnetic fields in a waveguide with an anisotropic inhomogeneous insert. A system of linear algebraic equations is obtained whose solution enables one to determine the field components of each mode propagating in the structure under study. In this paper, approaches and methods are generalized which simultaneously take into account the inhomogeneity and anisotropy of a material in the presence of perfectly conducting waveguide walls.
