Blood glucose and intracranial surgery
1994
: When there is a cerebral ischemia, the use of glucose seems to be contraindicated. Seventeen non diabetic patients, scheduled for elective intracranial surgery (mean surgical time: 218.8 +/- 42.8 min), exhibited no hypoglycaemic episodes during surgery without dextrose. The authors conclude that dextrose can be avoided without sequelae during intracranial surgery.
