CYSTIC ADENOID CARCINOMA IN UNCOMMON LOCATION: A CASE REPORT

2020
Cystic adenoid carcinoma (CAC) is a malignant neoplasm of salivary glands that mainly affects the parotid. We report a CAC case in a rare site. A 35-year-old female patient, smoker, was referred to the stomatology clinic with a progressive lesion in the left jugal mucosa. Oroscopy revealed a submucosal nodule, firm and with an evolution of 2 years. Hematologic examinations were requested for the incisional biopsy, which did not present alterations. The histopathologic analysis revealed a malignant neoplasm of glandular epithelium organized in islands and composed of myoepithelial and ductal cells in a pattern sometimes cribriform or tubular with muscular, vascular, and neural invasions concluded as CAC. The patient was referred to the oncology service. Histopathologic analysis is important for the accurate diagnosis of CAC because of the possibility of involvement of unusual regions and the reserved prognosis of the lesion.
