Techniques for Suppression of Raman and EDFA Gain Transients in Dynamically Switched Transparent Photonic Networks

We report on Stimulated Raman Scattering (SRS) penalties in transparent optical networks limiting the dynamic system performance if conventional control schemes are applied. A new method for minimizing transient WDM system failures is proposed.
