ES plėtra – nesibaigiantis procesas.
Daugiausia diskusijų ir debatų kelianti tema – Turkijos narystė ES.
Turkija prie ES siekia prisijungti nuo praėjusio amžiaus 7-ojo
desimtmecio, taciau ES derybas su Turkija pradėjo tik 2005 m.
Žymint Turkijos derybų dėl narystės ES penkmetį, 2010 m. diskusijos
Europos politinėje arenoje dėl Turkijos integracijos į ES ypac
suaktyvėjo, kai puoselėjamus multikultūriskumo projektus istiko tam
tikra krizė. Esminiai klausimai – ar Turkija gali tapti pilnateise
ES nare, kiek Turkijos tapatybė – susijusi su Europos tapatybe.
Pastarieji keli metai parodė, jog ne visos ES valstybės narės
pritaria Turkijos narystei ES, nes Turkija nėra priskiriama
Europai. Pastaraisiais metais, vykstant ekonominei ir finansiniai
krizei keiciasi ne tik ES valstybių narių nuomonė dėl Turkijos
narystės ES, bet ir pacių turkų požiūris dėl galimos Turkijos
integracijos į ES, todėl siuo magistro baigiamuoju darbu
nagrinėjama: 1) ES ir Turkijos santykių raida nuo Asociacijos
sutarties iki derybų pradžios bei jos eiga; 2) pagrindinės isorinės
ir vidinės kliūtys Turkijos narystės ES; 3) ekspertų ir studentų
nuomonių vertinimas dėl Turkijos narystės ES galimybių, nurodant
galimos Turkijos narystės teigiamas ir neigiamas pasekmes Sąjungai.
Atliekant sį tyrimą naudojami dokumentų analizės, lyginimo, pusiau
struktūrinis ekspertų interviu, studentų interviu, deliberation
(diskusija) tyrimo metodai. Remiantis atliktu tyrimu patvirtinama

ending. The most important question which raises the discussions
and debates is that of Turkey membership in the EU. Although Turkey
has been seeking membership since the seventh decade, the
negotiations between the EU and Turkey started only in 2005. In the
quinquennium of Turkey – EU membership negotiations, discussions in
the political stage regarding country’s integration in the EU
became very active because multicultural projects were hit by a
particular crisis. There are several significant questions that
could be emphasised, i. e. will Turkey become a full EU member and
how is country’s identity related to the identity of Europe? The
recent years have shown that not all EU member states are tend to
be in favor of Turkey membership because this country does not
belong in Europe. In recent years, economy and financial crisis has
affected not only the opinion of the EU on Turkey’s membership but
also Turkish people attitude towards country’s membership in the
EU. Therefore, this Master thesis analyses: 1) EU – Turkey
relations from the Association Agreement to the start of
negotiations as well as further development; 2) The most
significant internal and external obstacles regarding Turkey’s
membership in the EU; 3) The evaluation of expert and student views
on Turkey’s ability to become a full EU member emphasising positive
