Postprandial lipemia in patients with coronary artery disease
1990
Conventional lipid parameters and the magnitude of postprandial lipemia following a standardized oral fat load were determined in 93 male patients, who underwent coronary arteriography and had fasting plasma triglyceride levels of less than 250 mg/dl. Compared were individuals with severe coronary artery disease (CAD) with controls. The subjects were divided into those with LDL-cholesterol below 175 mg/dl (group I) and those with LDL-cholesterol levels of over 175 mg/dl (group II). In the group I subjects fasting triglycerides and HDL2 cholesterol were higher and lower, respectively, than in controls (p = 0.02). The magnitude of postprandial lipemia was higher in CAD cases than in controls (p = 0.009)
