Crosstalkon Cables: A Communication TheoreticApproach

1972
The crosstalk induced inaparticular cable byother nearby current carrying cables isofsignificance inpredicting thebehavior of systems using suchcables. Unfortunately, computational difficulties and ignorance oftheactual problem geometry (asopposed tothenominal geometry) often makethecalculation ofthecrosstalk uncertain orim- possible. Inthis paper amethod isdevised forexpressing thermsvalue ofthecrosstalk, andtheresulting expression isinvestigated foraparti- cular class ofcables. Themodels proposed areapplicable only tolong low-frequency cables constructed ofnonmagnetic materials. Electrostatic effects arenotconsidered.
