Authentication with privacy preservation in opportunistic networks

2017
With the advancement of mobile technologies and devices, a new network paradigm called “Opportunistic Networks” emerged. Opportunistic networks are based on the spontaneous response of the nodes and permanent links among the nodes almost absent. Due to self-organized nature of opportunistic networks and other diverse features, these networks have many security threats such as how to protect the data confidentiality, integrity, privacy as well as the trust among the nodes. In this paper, we propose a security algorithm for opportunistic networks. Our algorithm uses dynamic IDs for key exchange mechanism and RSA for the message encryption. The analysis shows that proposed algorithm is capable of fulfilling the security requirements of opportunistic networks.
